New Purlin mill coming to denver
We are excited to share an update about Denver’s plans for a new purlin mill that will be operational on January 1, 2022. This line will automate and expand Metal Sales capability to roll form purlins and additional secondary framing members.
Denver’s new, state-of-the-art purlin line will significantly expand our secondary structural product offering and increase our production efficiencies and redundancies. The new line will be able to produce purlins up to a 24” web depth and as heavy as 10 gauge that will have the ability to roll form eave struts and other structural sections.
The current equipment is 33 years old, labor and maintenance intensive. New, automated equipment will streamline changeovers, improve throughput, reduce lead times and increase flexibility.
A significant benefit to this investment is the opportunity to accelerate sales growth, servicing more accounts on a national basis. Denver’s location is ideal to service national customers and provide necessary redundancy for other Metal Sales locations (capacity constraints and/or breakdowns).
At the same time, we will be relocating the existing Denver mill to our Mocksville, NC branch. With these substantial investments, Metal Sales will now have the national presence and reach to effectively compete in every CIA market in the U.S.
Once complete, this will bring the total number of branches producing secondary structural framing to five: Woodland, Temple, Sellersburg, Denver, and Mocksville.
